Mid-July Salmonella Outbreak Reported

Salmonella Agona have been reported from 23 states since the middle of July, with the outbreak linked to fresh whole papayas imported from Mexico by Agromod Produce, Inc. of McAllen, Texas.
Agromod voluntarily recalled the papayas, which were imported from Mexico and distributed nationwide and to Canada through retail stores and wholesalers. But the CDC warned that contaminated papayas could still be in grocery stores and in consumers' homes.
