Austin Auto-Pedestrian Crash Kills One

Austin Police Officers responded to an auto-pedestrian crash in the 6800 block of South Pleasant Valley Road late last month, after a 2007 white Ford F350 tow truck that was driving

southbound in the outside lane of the 6800 block of South Pleasant Valley Road struck two pedestrians.

Although there was a sidewalk, the two pedestrians were walking southbound also in the outside lane of the 6800. The Ford struck both pedestrians from behind. Both pedestrians were injured and transported to University Medical Center at Brackenridge. One of the two, Pedro Rocha Briones, 57, died from his injuries at 5:55 a.m. The other pedestrian was released from the hospital with minor injuries. The investigation continues and anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call APD Vehicular Homicide Unit Detectives at (512) 974-8164.
