Drowning Death Ruled Accidental

The cause of Leslie Lavern Matthias, 61, was accidental drowning, according to reports from the autopsy performed by the state medical examiner.

Police were originally concerned that the death might have been as the result of foul play, reports say. The incident occurred when, early this month, officers from the Readlyn Police Department stopped to make a regular check at Matthias' home. Matthias was known to the police as an easygoing resident who sometimes required assistance in his daily life from time to time.

When they found him unresponsive, Police requested assistance from the Bremer County Sheriffs Office and the man was pronounced dead by the Bremer County Medical Examiner.
