Amusement Park Reopens After Ferris Wheel Death

An amusement park along the Jersey Shore boardwalk that closed after an 11-year-old girl fell from a Ferris wheel to her death reopened earlier this month even as an investigation continues in determining the cause of the accident.

The park, named Morey's Mariner's Landing Pier in Wildwood, was closed a few hours after the death of 11-year-old Abiah Jones, reports say.

Jones fell about 100 feet from the top of the ride and was pronounced dead at a hospital less than an hour later. She had been with other children who were attending a school-related special event.

The 156-foot-tall Ferris wheel was built in 1985, and passed an inspection in March, reports say.
