Fatal Traffic Accident on Houston's Eldridge Parkway

The driver of a white Toyota Camry was allegedly tailgating another vehicle as he traveled south on North Eldridge Parkway in early October. When the driver of the other vehicle pulled into another lane to allow the Camry to pass, the Toyota crossed into oncoming traffic and sideswiped a gold Toyota Avalon.

The Toyota failed to stop, instead continuing south in the northbound lanes of North Eldridge, later colliding with a Toyota Corolla. A male and female in the Corolla were injured and taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital where the female died.

The suspect, Nicholas Jared Mireles, 33, has been charged with intoxication manslaughter in the death of a female, 54, whose identity is being withheld pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

Passengers in Mireles' vehicle were taken to Memorial Hermann Memorial City Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries. Mireles was transported to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital where he underwent surgery. Blood results upon arriving at the hospital revealed Mireles was intoxicated at the time of the crash.
