Louisiana Residents Apprehensive of Approaching Spill

With the massive oil slick spreading up the Gulf Coast shoreline, some 5,000 barrels are set to impact the coast. Louisiana's commercial fishing industry, which sells $1.8 billion of product each year, or 40-percent of the seafood caught or farmed in the lower 48 states and consumed domestically, is in peril.

While the oil is just now lapping against shore, impact from the oil spill is already being felt by charter boat captains, oystermen and shrimpers along the Gulf Coast, who have been frantically increasing their fishing expeditions to get as far enough in the black before the oil inundates the shore.

With 15,000 miles of coastline and three-million acres of wetlands, Louisianans are apprehensive of the cost of this disaster. Louisiana shores, which are home to speckled trout, red drum, shrimp and many game fish, will be at high risk for losses this season - as well as potentially destructive long-term losses.

When calculating the losses in terms of personal tolls, Gulf Coast residents can also look to the causes of the spill, making sure that those who created the disaster are also responsible for its cleanup and restitution to those who have suffered from it. The Doan Law Firm can help those affected by this man-made disaster overcome their hardship.
