Pedestrian Killed in Altercation on Houston's Southwest Freeway

A suspect has been arrested and charged in a fatal traffic accident in the 3100 block of Houston's Southwest Freeway that occurred late last month.

The incident occurred while the suspect was driving a blue Mercedes on the Southwest Freeway service road when she got into a verbal altercation with the victim, a pedestrian. The victim began running alongside the suspect's vehicle and was yelling at her when he was struck by the vehicle.

Nydia Veronica Alipaz, 33, reportedly interfered with the investigation and allegedly gave false information to officers on the scene. She was taken into custody and charged with interfering with a police investigation and filing a false police report in Harris County Criminal Court.

The male victim, 21, was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
