Darvocet/Darvon Injury

If you or a loved one is currently taking or has taken Darvocet, Darvon or any form of the painkiller propoxyphene and has experienced any type of side effects, a dangerous drug attorney at the Doan Law Firm, P.C. can help. Our firm represents people throughout the Houston area who have been injured by defective and dangerous drugs. We are ready to go to bat for you against large pharmaceutical companies, doctors, hospitals and others who may be responsible for your injuries.

Darvocet Side Effects and Recall

Darvocet is a type of pain medication used to relieve mild to moderate pain. It was first introduced on the market in 1957 and contains two types of pain medications, a narcotic pain reliever called propoxyphene and a less potent pain reliever and fever reducer, acetaminophen, which can be used to increase the effects of propoxyphene. Darvon is a similar form of the drug that does not include acetaminophen.

An outside advisory panel to the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) met back in February of 2009 to discuss the serious side effects that had been reported by Darvocet and Darvon users. More than 3,000 reports were identified at the hearing, with the largest amount involving suicide, addiction and overdose. The advisory panel voted to recommend a recall of Darvocet and Darvon because the benefits did not outweigh the risks of taking the drug.

Darvocet and Darvon were withdrawn from the U.S. market by Xanodyne Pharmaceuticals, Inc. in accordance with an FDA recall that was finally issued in November of 2010, following new clinical data provided to the FDA the indicated that propoxyphene could cause serious and life-threatening heart rhythm abnormalities.

Filing a Darvocet Lawsuit

With the help of a dangerous drug attorney from our firm, you may be able to recover a significant amount of financial compensation for the side effects that you have experienced due to Darvocet or Darvon.
